The Diary of a Motion Tracker

I've got the main parts!  Someone on an Aliens prop board saw that I was looking for some parts and he had some to sell :-)
The two main drill parts are "real" and the third is a resin cast.

This is the transformer that is used for the keypad.

I've got a Remote Release at last!

Today I decided to destroy the flash :-)
These are the two parts I need from it.

Inside I found that the red light is actually a white light that shines through a red pretend bulb, but the green one is a real green bulb. I'll have to think about a way to get these to both light up. I know nothing about electronics, so if I do it it will probably be with a torch bulb that just shines through them (or maybe reflect the light from the slide viewer to them).

I cut off the meter, then filed it smooth. Then I cut out the range part that shows through the screen of the meter. This was filed down until it fit into the hole in the underneath of the meter.

I cut the piece with the light on down to size (I glued the slideable battery cover shut before sawing it). I decided on about 5mm for the thickness.

Next, I had to cut the circuit board down so it would fit in the space that luckily happens to be in exactly the right place for the switches.

I'm not sure what to do about the green light. I might just cut the green plastic off and glue it in the hole. For now I'll leave it still attached.

I've drilled some holes in the slide viewer and the top of the bulb enclosure so the light can shine straight up to the coloured lights and light them.

The switches and bulb fit in position now.

When it's switched on, the display comes on and the red light lights up!
